CONGRATULATION TO OUR MEDALISTS
Igor Gantsevich, Andreanne Demers,
Joseph Polossifakis and Mykaël Lambert
January 19, 2010 - Canada won one silver and three bronze
medals at the North American Circuit in San José on the weekend.
This competition gathered over 1000 of the best fencers from North
America and marked the last competition of importance before the
selection for the junior and cadet world championships in Baku,
Azerbaijan, which are scheduled in April of this year.
The most
notable Canadian performance came from Igor Gantsevich who
won the silver medal in Division 1 men's epee. He was defeated in
the final by Peter French. Joining Gantsevich on the podium were
the three bronze medalists: Andréanne Demers in the women's
junior epée category, Joseph Polossifakis in the men's
junior sabre category and Mykaël Lambert in the men's
junior epée category.
Other
results in the junior category are: Vincent Couturier
finished in 6th place in the men's sabre, Christophe Lavoie
finished in 9th place in the men's epée and Frederic Chevarie
finishes with a 10th place in women's sabre.
In Division
1: Sandra Sassine finished in 6th place in Women's
Sabre; Étienne Lalonde Turbide placed 7th in Men's Foil;
Brita Goldie placed 8th in Women's Epee; Annie-Claude
Therrien placed 9th in Women's Foil; Alex Simmons
finished 10th in Men's Foil and in Men's Epée Marc-André
LeBlanc finished in 11th place.
The CFF
would like to congratulate all the medalists and the athletes who
took part at the NAC in San José. Congratulations!

FELICITATIONS A NOS MEDAILLES

Joseph Polossifakis et Mykaël Lambert
Le 19 janvier 2010 - Les athlètes canadiens ont récolté
quatre médailles à la compétition de sélection du circuit
nord-américain en fin de semaine à San José. Cette compétition
très relevée regroupait plus de 1000 escrimeurs des États-Unis et
du Canada et marquait la dernière compétition internationale pour
la sélection pour les Championnats du monde junior qui aura lieu à
Baku, Azerbaijan en avril prochain.
La meilleure performance canadienne est venue de l'épéiste
Igor Gantsevich dans la Division 1, il s'est hissé sur la
deuxième marche du podium en s'inclinant en finale contre Peter
French. Rejoignant Gantsevich sur le podium sont les trois
médaillées de bronze : l'épéiste Andréanne Demers dans la
catégorie épée féminine junior, Joseph Polossifakis dans la
catégorie sabre masculin junior et Mykaël Lambert dans la
catégorie épée masculin.
Toujours chez les juniors, d'autres résultats dignes de mention
Vincent Couturier au sabre masculin termine au 6ième rang,
Christophe Lavoie termine au 9ième rang dans la catégorie
épée masculine et Frederic Chevarie termine au 10ième rang
au sabre féminin.
Division 1 : Au sabre féminin Sandra Sassine termine au
6e rang, Étienne Lalonde Turbide termine au 7ième rang au
fleuret masculin, Brita Goldie termine 8e à l'épée féminine,
Annie-Claude Therrien termine au 9e rang au fleuret féminin,
Alex Simmons termine au 10e rang au fleuret masculin et à
l'épée masculine toujours dans la Division 1 Marc-André LeBlanc
termine au 11e rang.
La FCE aimerait féliciter tous nos médaillés et tous les
athlètes qui on participé au CNA à San José.
