Petro-Canada Olympic Torch Fund Scholarship recipients

The Canadian Olympic Association (COA) has announced the recipients of the Petro-Canada Olympic Torch Fund Scholarships for the 1999/2000 academic year. In total, there are 25 Coaching Recipients and 123 Athlete Recipients, spanning 50 sports. This year fencing had two candidates selected: Patti Howes - Winnipeg, MB - Coaching Award ($8,000) - Patti will enrol in courses at the National Coaching Institute/Manitoba Nicolas Allen - Edmonton, AB - Athlete Award ($3,000) - Nicolas will continue his development/training in foil with the Edmonton FC and the National program, as well as study at the University of Alberta. Congratulations to both Patti and Nicolas.

Récipiendaires de la bourse d'études du flambeau olympique de Petro-Canada

L'Association olympique canadienne (AOC) a annoncé les récipiendaires de la bourse d'études du flambeau olympique de Petro-Canada pour l'année scolaire 1999/2000. Il y a au total 25 entraîneurs et 123 athlètes récipiendaires, représentant 50 sports. Cette année, deux lauréats sont des escrimeurs : Patti Howes, de Winnipeg au Manitoba, reçoit une bourse d'entraîneure de 8000 dollars qui lui permettra de participer à des cours à l'Institut national des entraîneurs du Manitoba; et Nicolas Allen, d'Edmonton en Alberta, reçoit une bourse d'athlète de 3000 dollars qui l'aidera à poursuivre son entraînement au fleuret au sein du Edmonton FC et du programme national, tout en continuant d'étudier à l'Université de l'Alberta. Félicitations à Patti et à Nicolas.
