It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a great fencer and swordmaster, Bob Anderson.

Bob Anderson was proabably best known for his work many films in which he stared or worked such as Master of Ballantrae, Star Wars, Princess Bride, Lord of the Rings and many more.

Lessor known was that Bob had worked with the Canadian Fencing Federation as Technical and Executive Director and was key to developing our National Coaching Certification Program. And was a major driving force in our development.

Our sincerest condolences to all his family and friends.

The CFF is seeking any individuals who are interested in representing Canadian Fencing as a vice-president of the Pan American Fencing Confederation. The application, to president@fencing.ca, will be reviewed and the name of one candidate submitted to the congress of the confederation on October 29th for consideration. The roles and responsibilities of the position as well as the time and travel commitments are as yet unclear. It would be advantageous to speak Spanish. If successful, an appointment is for a term of four years.

Please submit a letter of interest by October 27th to president@fencing.ca stating why you believe that you have the competencies to fulfill this role and outlining your experience in fencing within the Americas and internationally.

 National Team Coach for men's Foil Team in Catania

Maitre Henri Sassine has been chosen as National Team Coach for the men's Foil Team in Catania. He will be there to support the team leading up to and at the Sr World Championships in Catania.

It is with a lot of sadness that the Canadian Fencing Federation announces the departure of the High Performance Director, Mr. Gérard Lauzière. Mr. Lauzière has been employed by the CFF since September 2010. He will be stepping down from his functions as of November 3rd.

He will be taking on new challenges with the Coaching Association of Canada as the Senior Consultant for High Performance.

We wish him the best of luck in his new endeavours and thank him for his work and dedication.
