The Canadian Fencing Federation (CFF) is the national sport governing body for fencing in Canada. Incorporated in 1971, the CFF's members include the ten provincial and two territorial fencing associations, which in turn represent just over 100 fencing clubs from coast to coast. Anyone wishing to become a member of the CFF must first register with a Provincial/Territorial Fencing Association, typically through a recognized club. For your information, the contact persons for the provincial/territorial associations are listed in the Directory section of this website.

It is the mandate of the CFF to establish, develop, promote and support the sport of fencing in Canada and internationally. In a practical sense, the CFF's energies are focused on high performance athlete development, the preparation of National Teams and the Canadian Elite Circuit of competitions. Complementing this activity, the CFF also coordinates the National Coaching Certification Program for fencing, and deals with technical matters related to rules, competitions and refereeing. At the same time, the CFF also strives to ensure that all Canadian fencing activity is carried out within a safe and ethically sound environment.

Since the CFF is a registered Canadian Amateur Athletic Association, the Federation is able to receive donations and issue tax receipts. The CFF is supportive of efforts to solicit donations for the betterment of Canadian fencing and will work with Provincial Associations in this regard.

The CFF is governed by a Board of Directors, elected by the membership for three-year terms. The Board meets approximately five times per year to deal with issues of policy, planning and financial management. The Annual General Meeting of the Federation is held each June, typically one or two weeks after the National Championships. The CFF welcomes your comments, questions and feedback at any time. You may contact the CFF through its National Office, or alternatively, utilize the email listings for specific staff and Board members.
