2001 Sport Awards Honour Canada's Best

(Ottawa) The 28th Annual Canadian Sport Awards, presented by Investors Group and supported by Canadian Heritage, will once again showcase the significant accomplishments of some of Canada's most valued competitors, both off and on the field of play.

The Awards, hosted by CBC on Tuesday, March 20th, bring together the sport and corporate communities to honour those who represent the best in all of us. Hosted by Ron MacLean, one of the country's leading sportscasters, the Awards will be an evening of glitz, glamour and celebration - providing a fitting tribute to the hard work, dedication and victories of the past year. Over 100 of Canada's most celebrated athletes will be attending the event, along with corporations, sponsors and members of the sport community.

The Spirit of Sport Foundation, along with the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES), Athletes CAN, the Canada Games Council and the Commonwealth Games Association of Canada have joined forces to produce the
Awards.

A list of this year's Award nominees by category is attached for your reference. The Canadian Sport Awards Selection Juries will convene this

Le Prix sportif canadien de 2001 rend hommage aux meilleurs

(Ottawa) - La 28e édition du Prix sportif canadien, présenté par le Groupe Investors et appuyé par Patrimoine canadien, soulignera de nouveau cette année les réalisations exceptionnelles de certains athlètes de pointe du Canada au niveau athlétique et sur le plan communautaire.

Le Prix, qui sera diffusé sur les ondes de CBC le mardi 20 mars, réunit la collectivité sportive et l'entreprise privée afin de rendre hommage aux individus qui nous représentent le mieux et qui sont des modèles pour les autres. Animé par Ron MacLean, l'un des plus grands annonceurs sportifs au pays, le gala du Prix sportif canadien sera une soirée éblouissante de gloire et de célébration qui rendra hommage à juste titre au travail acharné, au dévouement et aux victoires de la dernière année. Plus de 100 grands athlètes canadiens assisteront à l'événement en compagnie de représentants de l'entreprise privée, de commanditaires et de la collectivité sportive.

La Fondation de l'Esprit du sport, le Centre canadien pour l'éthique dans le sport (CCES), Athlètes CAN, le Conseil des Jeux du Canada et l'Association canadienne des Jeux du Commonwealth ont uni leurs efforts afin de présenter cet événement.
