MAÎTRE MANUEL GUITTET is an ambidextrous fencing master. He immigrated to Canada in 1978, and was the Technical Director of the Canadian Fencing Federation from 1985 - 1989. A former French international foilist, Manuel continues the family tradition in the sport. His parents are former World Champions in épée and foil while his stepdaughter and pupil, Thalie Tremblay, twice member of the Canadian Olympic Women's Foil Team, holds the best-ever Canadian Olympic result in foil. Another of his students, Sherraine Schalm, recently achieved Canada's best-ever performance at the World Championships, finishing 6th at the 1999 Worlds in Seoul, Korea. Manuel has coached the Canadian
Team at Olympic and Pan-Am Games, Commonwealth Championships, and World Championships.
Maître Manuel Guittet est un maître d'armes ambidextre. Il a immigré au Canada en 1978 et a occupé le poste de directeur technique de la Fédération canadienne d¹escrime de 1985 à 1989. Ancien international français au fleuret, Manuel continue la tradition familiale en escrime. Ses parents sont tous les deux d'anciens champions du monde à l'épée et au fleuret, alors que sa belle-fille, Thalie Tremblay, deux fois membre de l'équipe canadienne olympique au fleuret féminin, détient la meilleure performance olympique du Canada au fleuret. Une autre de ses élèves, Sherraine Schalm, a récemment mérité la meilleure performance canadienne au Championnat du monde en se classant sixième aux mondiaux 1999 disputés à Séoul, en Corée du sud. Manuel a été entraîneur de l'équipe canadienne d'escrime à plusieurs Jeux olympiques et panaméricains, championnats du Commonwealth et championnats du monde.
